The series Sharing Innovative Experiences is part of the multidimensional strategy of the UNDP Special Unit for SSC to promote knowledge-sharing in the South. It presents Southern solutions to Southern challenges through the use of Southern expertise covering diverse areas. Eight volumes of the publication have already been released.
Sharing Innovative Experiences is published with the partnership of relevant institutions committed to the development of Southern countries.
The UNDP Special Unit for South-South Cooperation publishes Sharing Innovative Experiences in close partnership with institutions relevant to the South.
Potential partner institutions:
- are consistently willing to promote successful initiatives from the South;
- focus on a specific and consistent thematic approach to challenges addressed in the South;
- have the ability to collect relevant experiences from a network of collaborators, researchers and practitioners from the South;
- show a willingness to share half of the production costs of the publication.
The partners in the production of Sharing Innovative Experiences share the commitment by playing complementary roles:
As the PUBLISHER, the Special Unit for SSC:
- develops and/or approves the thematic concept of the volume;
- approves and appoints the partner editor and editorial board;
- ensures that deadlines and quality standards are met;
- ensures that the selected papers reflect the values of the United Nations;
- distributes the publication to achieve maximum outreach;
- promotes the volume by all means at hand.
As the EDITOR, the partner institution is expected to:
- search for the most relevant experiences for the volume;
- invite and receive proposals for papers;
- act as the main relay for authors and institutions contacted;
- read, analyse and select manuscripts;
- ensure that the selected papers reflect the values of the United Nations;
- organize the international workshop
- Designed so that it enhances and creates the opportunity for knowledge-sharing throughout the entire process, the production cycle of each volume of Sharing Innovative Experiences evolves around a few main steps undertaken in an average period of six to eight months:
- invitation for the nomination of experiences;
- selection of the papers;
- organization of a workshop on the theme, with the participation of the authors;
- publication;
- distribution.
